The hiring establishment is the Youth Center located on Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Job Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks following Air Force and DoD policies including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- Ability to obtain, maintain and provide evidence of current immunizations including annual influenza vaccinations
- Must pass a pre-employment physical meeting lifting and physical stamina requirements
- Completion of assigned training including Food Handlers certification within specified time
- U.S. citizen or Non-U.S. National with 3 or more years consecutive U.S. residence
- Ability to provide REAL ID or authorized identity documents for installation access
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Compliance with employment verification (E-Verify) and other federal employment requirements
- Direct deposit required
- Availability to undergo a probationary period if required
Job Qualifications
- Experience in food preparation principles and characteristics of food
- Knowledge of planning processes to ensure entire meals are cooked on time
- Ability to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and adjust standardized recipes
- Knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food
- Experience gained in grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the job
Job Duties
- Roasts, broils, bakes, fries, boils, steams and stews meats, fish and poultry
- Prepares soups, stocks, broths, gravies, sauces and puddings without packaged mixes
- Adjusts standardized recipes for number of servings and performs yield testing
- Prepares cold food platters such as ham, salmon, and roast beef platters, and salads and hors d'oeuvres
- Mixes and prepares cold sauces, meat glazes, molded aspics, and salad dressings
- Carves vegetables and fruits as garnishes for food platters and dishes
- Plans and coordinates cooking processes to produce complete meals on time and at proper temperature
