Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Serve Safe Certified or obtain Certification within 6 months of hire
  • One year restaurant/institution cooking
  • One year of retail store cashiering or 1 year as Mercy Health FANS colleague

  • Preferred: Previous large volume cooking experience and line cooking/formal culinary training

Job Duties

  • Responsible for opening and closing the department and maintaining departmental security
  • Responsible for the financial management of the department
  • Follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines to ensure proper preparation of food items, meeting food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Provides input on changing and developing menus and recipes to enhance customer satisfaction
  • May be responsible for menu development
  • Prepares meals using batch, large quantity, and short order types of cooking
  • Ability to adjust recipes to meet desired yield needs
