This modern hospital will serve the Isle of Wight County community by providing high-quality, comprehensive medical services close to home. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year food preparation experience (preferred)
  • One year culinary experience (preferred)
  • Allergen Awareness Certification - VA State - ANSI-approved within 180 days
  • Food Handlers Card - VA State - ANSI-approved within 30 days or Food Protection Manager Certification - VA State - ANSI-approved

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • One year food preparation experience preferably in a high-volume restaurant, hotel or healthcare kitchen (preferred)
  • One year culinary experience (preferred)
  • Allergen Awareness Certification - VA State - ANSI-approved within 180 days (required)
  • Food Handlers Card - VA State - ANSI-approved within 30 days (required) or Food Protection Manager Certification - VA State - ANSI-approved (required)

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items for both patient and non-patient food services following production plans and recipes
  • Maintain working knowledge of food safety, infection control, and sanitation compliance
  • Ensure compliance with food temperature, quality, sanitation, and storage guidelines
  • Provide positive interaction and support to team members for timely and accurate meal service
  • Follow therapeutic menus and allergy guidelines to serve safe and consistent quality nutritional care
  • Prepare special request food items and complete prep work such as slicing, chopping, and grill cooking
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas properly
