Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • graduation from a recognized culinary school or two years food production experience
  • ability to read, write, follow written or oral instructions and be understood in English
  • basic computer skills
  • flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • ability to meet physical demands involved with job duties
  • State of California Food Handler certification must be obtained within three months of hire

  • ability to meet physical demands of the job
  • two years of college or equivalent preferred
  • experience with large scale food production and industrial equipment preferred
  • Servsafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for patient food services, retail food services, and catering services
  • stock, assemble, and serve portion controlled hot and cold food
  • replenish and stock stations
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of foodservice areas and equipment
  • establish and monitor food quality and temperature standards
  • provide excellent customer, patient, and staff interactions
  • work collaboratively as part of the Nutrition & Food Services team
