Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 to 3 years experience in food service
- certification as Food Safety Manager by National Registry of Food Safety Professionals
- complete understanding of HACCP food safety
- ability to work morning and evening shifts including rotating weekends and holidays
- ability to stand for extended periods
- no supervisory responsibility
- no driving required
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and familiarity with cooking operations and procedures
- certified as Food Safety Manager by National Registry of Food Safety Professionals
- understanding of HACCP food safety
- 2 to 3 years experience in food service
- ability to prepare various food items according to recipes
- ability to taste and adjust food flavor and quality
- good communication skills to confer with supervisors and staff
Job Duties
- Consistently apply corporate values of respect honesty and fairness
- review menus and work orders to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared
- plan cooking schedule to ensure food is ready at specified times and maintains quality
- estimate food quantities and control serving portions to minimize waste
- confer with Food Service Supervisor regarding modified diet preparations and use of leftovers
- procure or supervise procurement of food from storage areas
- prepare or supervise washing trimming cooking and seasoning of food items
- measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
- observe and taste food being cooked to improve flavor texture and appearance
- test food to determine proper cooking
- adjust heat controls and timers on kitchen equipment
- prepare cold meats sandwiches snacks and beverages
- inspect meat and other food in storage
- make recommendations on menu changes
