Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • One year experience demonstrates ability to cook a variety of foods in quantity with seasoning and timing knowledge
  • One year experience with cooking utensils and equipment care and use
  • Ability to lift to seventy-five pounds and move three to four feet
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, stoop, and reach frequently

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience cooking a variety of foods in quantity
  • Knowledge of seasoning and required cooking times
  • One year experience with care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
  • Ability to lift up to seventy-five pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, stoop, and reach frequently
  • Preferred three years experience preparing food in an institutional setting
  • Two years experience providing leadership through instruction and example
  • Vocational training
  • ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Works with coworkers in team environment that promotes positive service qualities and respect of residents
  • Reviews production information with staff daily
  • Ensures and monitors correct quantities of production and portioning
  • Monitors and records production and waste data in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Prepare all food items in accordance with departmental standards
  • Ensures that food retains nutritional value, attractive appearance, and palatability and is served at the appropriate temperature
  • Follows proper guidelines to meet special dietary needs
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchen including washing dishes, cleaning floors, counters, and disinfecting necessary areas
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the dining room including changing tablecloths, vacuuming, and cleaning salad bar area
  • Ensures staff adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
  • Guides, assists and instructs other staff members
  • Plans and organizes work schedule so food is prepared timely
  • Serves as designated person in charge in absence of manager(s)
  • Performs additional tasks necessary in service to residents
  • Assists in serving/delivery of meals
  • Prepares and serves special events and catering
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food
  • Assists in training/orientation of new employees
  • Attends staff meetings, projects, and mandatory training
  • Completes competency evaluations for training as required
  • Follows all applicable state regulations
  • Performs other duties as directed
