Job Requirements

  • Complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
  • satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
  • work shift hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and special situations
  • ability to provide REAL ID or equivalent identification
  • male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must register for Selective Service

Job Qualifications

  • Must have experience in food preparation and presentation related to grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • work safely
  • perform simple arithmetic
  • knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment
  • understanding characteristics of various foods
  • ability to season food and determine doneness
  • physically able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently
  • able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for extended periods
  • open to all applicants including military spouses and veterans
  • must provide proof of eligibility by closing date
  • experience can include volunteer work through National Service programs
  • no education substitution allowed

Job Duties

  • Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks such as preparing and cooking pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and vegetables
  • prepare hot cereals, broiled meats
  • prepare and cook concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
  • make cold sandwich fillings
  • prepare convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets and chicken nuggets
  • prepare and bake pizza when required
  • perform food preparation including peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading
  • weigh, measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • set up and replenish salad bar
  • portion foods for distribution and meal service
  • cover, date and store leftovers according to procedures
  • wash and clean kitchen equipment
  • mix ingredients following recipes to produce quality products and minimize waste
  • perform other related duties as assigned
