Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience in institutional cooking or related kitchen work preferred
- Ability to plan, organize, interpret and make independent decisions
- Willingness to receive Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies in excess of 50 pounds
- Capable of standing and walking for long durations
- Ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
- Ability to work with elderly, ill, and emotionally upset individuals
Job Qualifications
- Two years experience in institutional cooking, prep cooking, or kitchen work preferred
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct work of employees
- Willingness to receive Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County as per health regulations
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods
- Good interpersonal skills to relate to elderly, disabled, and ill populations
Job Duties
- Prepares meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, special events, and catering according to standardized recipes and production sheets
- Tests and tastes food to ensure quality flavor, consistency, texture, and temperature
- Prepares appropriate portion sizes adhering to production menus and fulfills additional resident or customer requests
- Maintains proper sanitation and cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
- Uses and maintains kitchen equipment following safety and operational guidelines
- Follows infection control procedures including hand washing, food storage, and wearing protective clothing
- Reports hazardous conditions, defective equipment, accidents, or incidents immediately to supervisors
