Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous cooking experience in healthcare, long-term care, or institutional settings preferred
- Knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions in healthcare environments
- Ability to read, write, and follow recipes and production sheets
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent preferred (may be required by state regulations)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to the nursing home's menu and dietary guidelines
- Ensure meals meet residents' specific dietary restrictions (e.g., low-sodium, pureed, diabetic diets)
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
- Ensure timely preparation and serving of meals for residents, staff, and guests
- Monitor and record food temperatures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Assist in maintaining inventory of food and supplies
- notify supervisor of shortages
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas after meal preparation
- Collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Follow facility policies and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols
- Participate in ongoing training and in-services as required by the facility
