Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of cooking experience in hospital or long term care facility
  • Ability to prepare meals according to menu and dietary requirements
  • ServSafe Certificate or ability to obtain
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff
  • Willingness to supervise during Dietary Supervisor absence

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a cook in a hospital or long term care facility for not less than one year
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
  • Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health

Job Duties

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner
  • Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Follow prepared menus and portion control guides
  • Prepare special diets accurately including pureed foods
  • Record food temperatures for meals
  • Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments
  • Maintain sanitizer solution in buckets
  • Assist with meal serving
  • Clean cooking area and serving carts
  • Report resident care concerns to Administrator and/or Director of Nurses
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff
  • Ensure appealing food presentation
  • Supervise kitchen operations in absence of Dietary Supervisor
  • Follow all cleaning schedules
