Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years formal culinary training or equivalent experience
  • food service experience preferred
  • knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling practices
  • ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and portion controls
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • comply with all safety and workplace policies
  • good interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years formal culinary training program with degree or equivalent experience
  • food service background in upscale restaurants, private clubs, and/or hotels preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • ability to work under intense time pressure
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
  • dedication to high standards of food quality and presentation
  • commitment to hospitality and senior engagement

Job Duties

  • Prepare all soups, stocks, and sauces
  • boil, braise, and roast items as per standardized recipes
  • prepare and serve sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, pureed, and baked items
  • complete appropriate paperwork and clean equipment
  • maintain hot food line and serve residents in cooperation with dietary staff and leadership
  • ensure proper food temperatures, portion sizes, and plate appearance
  • prepare salads, desserts, and baked items according to standardized recipes
  • monitor and enforce sanitation standards and comply with OBRA guidelines
  • participate in pre-service meetings and plan meal production
  • comply with dietary restrictions based on physician orders
  • follow safety regulations and safe food handling practices
  • maintain safe and sanitary workstations
  • uphold personal hygiene and dress code standards
  • attend training and in-service education sessions
  • perform assigned duties under supervisor direction
  • identify and act on safety hazards and emergencies
  • maintain resident confidentiality
  • model and support Cottage Grove Place’s values
  • adhere to workplace policies and procedures
