Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- previous cooking experience in a healthcare or food service environment preferred
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- food handler's certification preferred
- physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight
- adherence to health and safety guidelines
- effective communication skills
- teamwork orientation
Job Qualifications
- genuine interest in working with patients and food service as related to total patient care
- ability to read, write and follow written and oral directions
- ability to cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, and other departments
- ability to follow recipes and menus, especially related to therapeutic diets
- ability to work under pressure at peak periods
- willingness and cooperation in following instructions as given
- basic knowledge of quantity food preparation and cooking beneficial
- ability to estimate relative quantities of food, per written recipes
Job Duties
- prepares and cooks the residents' food
- ensures the food is prepared correctly and at the appropriate quantity as ordered
- maintains clean working environments ensuring guidelines for food handling are followed
- assists with the food service assistant position as needed by serving food, cleaning/setting tables, washing dishes/pots/pans
- completes other assigned duties when not cooking/preparing food
- follows health regulations by the public health department
