Job Requirements

  • High school completion or equivalent education and experience
  • ability to work in fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • good time management and organizational skills
  • physical ability to exert up to 20 to 50 pounds occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
  • ability to read and follow recipes accurately
  • strong knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils

  • strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Reads menu to estimate food requirements, orders food from supplier, or procures it from storage
  • adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, boilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
  • measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
  • bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • adds seasoning to food during mixing or cooking according to personal judgment and experience
  • observes and tests food by tasting, smelling, and piercing to determine doneness
  • carves meat, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies, sauces, and garnishes
  • returns unused food items to designated storage areas properly covered and dated
  • may supervise other cooks and kitchen employees
  • may wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use
  • may butcher chickens, fish, and shellfish
  • may make bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry
  • may price items on the menu
  • required to be always in uniform and wear a name badge
  • supports core values, mission, service fundamentals, and guest service philosophy
  • performs all other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor
