Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 1 year experience in food services for nursing facility or hospital
- Ability to cook food in large quantities
- Knowledgeable of food procedures
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work in a warm environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to assist in emergency situations including resident evacuation
- Ability to push, pull, move, or lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the day

Job Duties
- Work with the dietician to ensure diets meet residents nutritional needs
- Review menus prior to food preparation
- Handle food in a sanitary manner
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
- Serve food according to established portion control recommendations
- Inspect special diet trays to confirm the correct diet is served to the resident
- Assure all meals are served on time including snacks
- Coordinate food service with other departments
- Avoid food wastes
- Maintain food service equipment
- Adhere to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and clean up
- Keep worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators, and freezers clean
- Dispose of food and waste per facility regulations
- Obtain food supplies for the next meal
- Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information
