Job Requirements
- HS diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of culinary experience
- Culinary Arts certificate preferred
- Corporate Dining or Contract foodservice operations experience highly desirable
- Catering experience a plus
- High volume batch cooking experience
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and oral/written communication skills
- Must be able to follow verbal instructions, written recipes and instructions for menu items
- Knowledge of food cost and how it pertains to a kitchen, product and quality identification
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and proven track record in providing excellent guest service
- Possess language skills with an ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating/procedure manuals
- Able to comprehend basic kitchen math including adding, subtracting, and dividing in all units of measure
- Knowledge of the Foodservice menu system
- knowledge of the GFS ordering system and ability to order using the GFS computer ordering system
- Proactive team player, flexible with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change in a positive manner
- Overtime required with a flexible work schedule at times
- Willing to work in other job duties that may be assigned
- Valid Driver's license and good driving record

Job Duties
- Work closely with the Chef or designated kitchen lead including but not limited to catering lead or member of management team
- Assists with the preparation of food service for Cafe and catering including preparing breakfast or lunch short order grill items and preparing items for full service deli
- Support lunch service by serving guests, batch cooking as needed, and maintaining a high standard of guest care and kitchen efficiency
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- comfortable with basic kitchen tools such as knives and slicing machines, kitchen terms, and standard equipment
- Ensures all Health Department safety and sanitation guidelines are followed
- maintains sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work area
- ensures display equipment is clean and complies with all sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements
- Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner, and relays relevant information to supervisor
- Ensures all product is cooked and served according to recipe specifications and food safety and sanitation practices
- Assist with prepping ingredients and supplies needed for the next day's service to ensure smooth kitchen operations and remain adaptable to accommodate special guest requests
- Thoroughly completes all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef, Catering lead, or supporting management
- Working hours are 5:30AM - 2:00PM CST, with occasional weekend shift
