Job Requirements
- Must be minimum 17 years of age
- Ability to work overtime and additional shifts as required
- Completion of mandatory education, annual competencies and health requirements
- Maintenance of license, certification and registration in good standing
- Use of universal precautions, protective equipment and ergonomic techniques
- Adherence to organizational policies and regulatory agency requirements
- Physical ability to stoop, reach, lift equipment and remain on feet for entire workday
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum one year experience in hospital, institutional or restaurant cooking environment preferred
- Good communication skills to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to make simple calculations
- Interpersonal and hospitality skills to work cooperatively and serve the public
- Ability to work with hot cooking surfaces and hot food
- Compliance with department education and competency requirements
- Maintenance of required certifications such as Serve Safe and BCLS (CPR)
Job Duties
- Preparing food items according to production schedules and menus
- Using standardized recipes, proper portioning, sanitation and food handling techniques
- Completing advanced planning and proper food preparation to eliminate waste
- Delivering prepared food to proper areas at proper times
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe work area
- Communicating equipment and supply needs
- Completing accurate production records
- Participating in quality control and quality improvement plans
- Completing other assigned duties and projects
- Attending Serve Safe Food Handling courses every 5 years
