Job Requirements

  • Must be minimum 17 years of age
  • Ability to work overtime and additional shifts as required
  • Completion of mandatory education, annual competencies and health requirements
  • Maintenance of license, certification and registration in good standing
  • Use of universal precautions, protective equipment and ergonomic techniques
  • Adherence to organizational policies and regulatory agency requirements
  • Physical ability to stoop, reach, lift equipment and remain on feet for entire workday

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in hospital, institutional or restaurant cooking environment preferred
  • Good communication skills to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to make simple calculations
  • Interpersonal and hospitality skills to work cooperatively and serve the public
  • Ability to work with hot cooking surfaces and hot food
  • Compliance with department education and competency requirements
  • Maintenance of required certifications such as Serve Safe and BCLS (CPR)

Job Duties

  • Preparing food items according to production schedules and menus
  • Using standardized recipes, proper portioning, sanitation and food handling techniques
  • Completing advanced planning and proper food preparation to eliminate waste
  • Delivering prepared food to proper areas at proper times
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe work area
  • Communicating equipment and supply needs
  • Completing accurate production records
  • Participating in quality control and quality improvement plans
  • Completing other assigned duties and projects
  • Attending Serve Safe Food Handling courses every 5 years
