Job Requirements

  • experience in a quantity food service setting such as restaurant military nursing residential home or similar quantity food service kitchen environment
  • demonstrate ability to perform duties independently
  • ability to follow advanced culinary knowledge and judgment
  • comply with sanitation and safety regulations
  • ability to lift or move objects up to 40 lbs unassisted
  • ability to work while standing walking bending reaching pushing and pulling frequently
  • manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle sharp knives safely
  • ability to work with minimal supervision
  • meet all requirements by closing date 10/10/2025

Job Qualifications

  • experience in a quantity food service setting such as restaurant military nursing residential home or similar kitchen environment
  • demonstrated ability to prepare nutritious meals independently
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety standards in food preparation
  • skill in cooking a variety of foods including meats poultry fish and vegetables
  • ability to organize and coordinate work of other cooks
  • ability to work with minimal supervision
  • manual dexterity and ability to operate kitchen equipment safely

Job Duties

  • independently prepare nutritious high quality meals for veterans
  • cook meats poultry fish shellfish and vegetables
  • make soups gravies sauces desserts and other foods
  • organize and coordinate the work of lower grade cooks
  • ensure work operations follow sanitation and safety requirements
  • prepare regular and special diet foods and meals
  • maintain attention to work operations and adhere to safety protocols
