Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior cooking experience preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks required in kitchen environment
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work flexible evening shifts Sunday to Tuesday
- Team player with a positive attitude
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role ideally in healthcare or senior living setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to follow recipes, adjust portion sizes, and prepare meals for large groups
- Compassionate and caring attitude with genuine desire to enhance the lives of seniors
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, organized environment
- Certification in food safety, culinary arts, or related field is a plus
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences
- Follow food safety guidelines to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
- Prepare special meals for residents with specific dietary needs such as low-sodium, diabetic, vegetarian or gluten-free options
- Work closely with kitchen team to ensure smooth meal preparation and service
- Support a positive and respectful work environment
- Ensure adherence to portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace
