Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience
- Previous food service experience
- Ability to work flexible hours including potential overtime
- Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with dietary and clinical staff

Job Duties
- Participates in preparation of quality prepared food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu
- Assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation and cleaning procedures are followed
- Cleans work area, serving area, and dining area
- Collaborates with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietician for menus and patient specific needs
- Keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines, maintaining FIFO standards and proper food labeling
- Maintains accurate HACCP programs and checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption
- Practices sanitation and food safety guidelines, including proper use of utensils and gloves
- Prepares meals adhering to menu cycle, portion control, and presentation standards
- Ensures meal trays are prepared for patients unable to visit the cafeteria
- Interacts with patients and staff in the serving line offering assistance with nutritionally balanced meals
- Follows posted cleaning schedules to ensure cleanliness
- Documents refrigeration and dish machine temperatures accurately
- Maintains adequate supplies at beverage station
- Prepares snacks and nourishments according to resident preferences and physician orders
- Practices safety, infection control, and emergency procedures according to facility protocols
