Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience
  • Previous food service experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including potential overtime
  • Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with dietary and clinical staff

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Participates in preparation of quality prepared food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu
  • Assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation and cleaning procedures are followed
  • Cleans work area, serving area, and dining area
  • Collaborates with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietician for menus and patient specific needs
  • Keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines, maintaining FIFO standards and proper food labeling
  • Maintains accurate HACCP programs and checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption
  • Practices sanitation and food safety guidelines, including proper use of utensils and gloves
  • Prepares meals adhering to menu cycle, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Ensures meal trays are prepared for patients unable to visit the cafeteria
  • Interacts with patients and staff in the serving line offering assistance with nutritionally balanced meals
  • Follows posted cleaning schedules to ensure cleanliness
  • Documents refrigeration and dish machine temperatures accurately
  • Maintains adequate supplies at beverage station
  • Prepares snacks and nourishments according to resident preferences and physician orders
  • Practices safety, infection control, and emergency procedures according to facility protocols
