Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience preferred
  • ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for up to eight hours
  • ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work in a team
  • compassionate and patient attitude
  • physical stamina for kitchen work
  • willingness to comply with cleaning and documentation protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary certification or relevant vocational training is a plus
  • previous experience as a cook preferably in healthcare or assisted living settings
  • strong culinary skills focused on food preparation and presentation
  • knowledge of food safety practices and dietary requirements for elderly residents
  • compassionate and patient demeanor
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
  • experience working in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat and sharp utensils

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
  • assist in planning weekly menus catering to residents' dietary needs and restrictions
  • follow food safety and sanitation procedures including proper food handling and cleanliness
  • engage with residents to address meal preferences and dietary concerns
  • monitor food inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues
  • collaborate with kitchen and dietary staff to ensure smooth meal service operations
  • maintain documentation such as food temperature logs and cleaning schedules
