Job Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination as determined by background investigation
- Personnel security investigation is required
- Pre-placement medical examination is required
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
- Immunization screening required including Hepatitis B immunization
- Position may require rotating shifts
- Position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays)
- Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship
- Male applicants born after Dec 31, 1959 must complete Selective Service registration
- Direct deposit of pay required
- Must be able to perform continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling
- Exposure to temperature extremes, fumes, odors, and kitchen hazards
- Position may be converted to permanent appointment after meeting criteria

- Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
- Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprint reading)
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- Dexterity and safety
- Knowledge of materials
- Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
- Work practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order)
Job Duties
- Assist cold diet section in preparation of liquid nourishment
- Assist the hot diet section with chopping meats, blending foods, and broiling meats
- Assist higher level cooks in preparation of any items on menu
- Follow standardized recipes and cooking techniques
- Serve on dining hall line and patient hot food assembly
