Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED
- accredited food handler certification within 60 days as per State guidelines
- 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook
- experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
- knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including grilling, baking, boiling
- ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- team player with effective oral and written communication skills
- excellent physical condition and stamina

Job Duties
- prepare and cook a variety of meals including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes
- adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions
- monitor all food items for temperature, taste, and quality
- use various utensils and grillers to cook food, stirring or turning as needed
- dress dishes for a great presentation before serving
- keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly, ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing
- store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety
- check and ensure the quality of ingredients
- monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval
- follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines including governmental and company policies and ensure proper documentation
- assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff
- maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene
- attend all required in-service training sessions
- be an active member of the community’s emergency response team
- maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies
- perform other responsibilities as assigned
