Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic

  • Follow written and oral instructions
  • One year of experience as a prep cook or similar position
  • Food Handler certification obtained within 60 days of hire as required by state guidelines if state certification program exists
  • Ability to follow written recipes and instructions
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Able to work in hot or cold kitchen environments
  • Capability to work under pressure and adapt to changing duties and priorities

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to follow written recipes and instructions
  • Basic arithmetic and measurement understanding
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members

Job Duties

  • Prepare all food items per menu requirements following designated recipes
  • Prepare plates and garnish food items to be served to residents and guests
  • Prepare food production to coordinate with meal service hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved
  • Ensure food safety meets State and local standards by monitoring food temperatures and using proper food storage techniques
  • Maintain work area in a safe and sanitary condition including cleaning cooking equipment and other assigned kitchen areas
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain cooperative and consistent communication with kitchen staff, front-end staff, and management
  • Understand instructions, read written company memorandums, and communicate with little or no additional direction
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
