Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years culinary training or equivalent experience
  • food handling and safety certification
  • ability to work full-time with alternating shifts including weekends
  • physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform cleaning duties
  • compliance with dress code and hygiene standards
  • valid certification if required
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • commitment to safety and workplace conduct
  • willingness to attend ongoing training and maintain certifications

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years formal culinary training program with degree or equivalent experience
  • food service background preferred in upscale restaurants, private clubs, and/or hotels
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • passion for hospitality and senior engagement
  • strong communication and teamwork skills
  • understanding of dietary restrictions and food safety practices
  • ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism

Job Duties

  • Prepare all soups, stocks, and sauces
  • boil, braise, and roast items per standardized recipes
  • prepare and serve sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, pureed and baked items
  • complete paperwork, clean equipment, and assist with kitchen sanitation
  • maintain hot food line and service with dietary staff and leadership
  • ensure proper food temperatures, portions, and plate appearance
  • prepare salads, desserts, and baked items per recipes
  • follow food production sheets to coordinate meal serving hours
  • comply with sanitation standards and OBRA guidelines
  • monitor and guide production and served staff
  • participate in pre-service meetings and post-meal production sheets
  • follow essential dietary restrictions
  • comply with safety and food handling regulations
  • maintain workstation cleanliness
  • maintain personal hygiene and dress code
  • attend training and education sessions
  • perform assigned duties
  • identify and act on safety hazards
  • comply with Cottage Grove Place's Code of Conduct
  • work under time pressure
  • collaborate with team members
  • fulfill mandated schedules
  • maintain resident confidentiality
  • model respect, responsibility, and safety expectations
