Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years formal culinary training or equivalent experience
- Experience with senior care or healthcare food service preferred
- Ability to work alternating shifts including weekends
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety guidelines
- Reliable physical attendance and punctuality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen tasks
- Compliance with department dress code and personal hygiene standards
Job Qualifications
- Minimum two years formal culinary training program with degree or equivalent experience
- Food service background in upscale restaurants, private clubs, or hotels preferred
- Knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
- Ability to work under intense time pressure
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to high standards of personal hygiene and professionalism
Job Duties
- Prepare all soups, stocks, and sauces
- Boil, braise, and roast items per standardized recipes
- Prepare and serve sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, pureed, and baked items
- Complete appropriate paperwork and clean equipment
- Maintain the hot food line and serve residents with proper temperatures and portions
- Prepare salads, desserts, and baked items as per recipes
- Follow sanitation and safety standards including OBRA and HACCP
- Monitor and train kitchen and service staff
- Participate in pre-service meetings and meal planning
- Comply with dietary restrictions and physician orders
- Maintain workstation cleanliness and personal hygiene
- Attend required training and education sessions
- Identify and respond to safety hazards and emergencies
- Maintain resident confidentiality and follow all facility policies
- Model respect, responsibility, and safety in the workplace
