  • prior experience in food preparation
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • ability to follow recipes accurately
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • physical ability to perform cooking duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • prior work experience with food preparation a plus
  • demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served

Job Duties

  • Food preparation/production responsibilities
  • reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared
  • prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost quality with a minimum of waste
  • uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required
  • operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet
  • follow recipes
  • prepares and assists with special function meals
  • completes work assignments
  • meal service responsibilities
  • food safety
