Job Requirements

  • Previous culinary experience
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Physical ability to bend and reach
  • Physical ability to push, pull, and lift 40-50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Capacity to work in hot and humid environments
  • Ability to recognize quality and palatability of food through taste and smell

Job Qualifications

  • Serv Safe Certification
  • Working knowledge of health and safety rules in food preparation
  • Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures per state guidelines
  • Knowledge of various meat cuts and seasonings
  • Ability in a wide range of food preparation skills
  • Experience dealing with seniors and their dietary needs
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items on Food and Beverage Director's daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame
  • Keeps food service areas clean
  • Monitors inventory
  • Supervises servers in the absence of the Food and Beverage Director
  • Maintains clean, neat, and safe work environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Assures that Resident diets are being followed
