Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in quantity food preparation preferred
  • Ability to read recipes and perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of food production techniques and equipment
  • Ability to comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety in work area
  • Willingness to attend mandatory training and seminars
  • Available to work overtime and additional shifts if required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Preps food for and stocks food for service area
  • Checks to ensure next day’s stock items are placed into designated storage areas
  • Labels and dates all items for easy identification
  • Utilizes leftovers when appropriate
  • Checks freezer for items before requisitioning
  • Makes decisions and takes responsibility for own actions
  • Orients new staff to work areas on request
  • Attends in-house continuing education seminars
  • Helps to develop training programs
  • Keeps work area clean and sanitary
  • Maintains rags in sanitizing solution
  • Completes equipment cleaning checklist as assigned
  • Follows Health Department guidelines when handling food
  • Keeps apron and uniform clean and in good repair
  • Follows HACCP guidelines
  • Operates equipment and performs job duties safely
  • Keeps potentially hazardous food items at proper temperatures
  • Reports safety hazards to supervisors
  • Expedites orders and coordinates timing of food from multiple line areas
  • Uses and understands standardized recipes
  • Produces correct amount of food as stated on production sheet
  • Meets set time schedules and requests assistance if needed
  • Batch cooks when appropriate
  • Coordinates equipment usage with co-workers
  • Completes and turns in production sheets daily
  • Anticipates daily needs
  • Checks ensure needed items are available
  • Reports shortages timely
  • Monitors usage on serving lines
  • Offers appropriate substitutes if needed
  • Checks out with Chef or manager to solve problems
  • Produces quality finished product
  • Reads and produces food on demand by ticket system
  • Produces small batches during peak periods and cooks to order
  • Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned
  • Attends and participates in department meetings
  • Completes mandatory education and competencies in timeframes
  • Maintains license and certifications in good standing
  • Utilizes universal precautions and protective equipment
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements and organizational policies
  • Available to work overtime and additional shifts as required
