Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Culinary training with Chef Certification or Associate Degree in Culinary Arts highly preferred
  • Minimum one year food service experience
  • Demonstrated cooking or chef experience in a fast-paced, high production kitchen required
  • Prior healthcare cooking experience preferred
  • Food Handler's Certification from San Bernardino County Public Health Department required upon hire
  • SafeServ Managers certification preferred
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen and cafeteria cooking equipment
  • Able to perform simple math functions
  • Effective multitasking and organizational skills
  • Competent English language skills
  • Ability to hear, see, and taste accurately
  • Willingness to work varied shifts and full-time hours

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to train and instruct new employees and dietetic students
  • Competent in simple math functions for recipe adjustment and production control
  • Effective multitasking, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to hear conversation and distinguish workplace sounds
  • Ability to see, distinguish colors, and accurately taste foods

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold food items for patient tray line, cafeteria, and catered events
  • Set up hot and cold food stations and serve food for patient tray line
  • Ensure accuracy and quality acceptability of recipes and food items produced
  • Monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety
  • Assist with maintaining overall cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen area
  • Train and instruct new employees and dietetic students
  • Perform other duties as needed
