Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of dietary experience in hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility
  • Food handler's permit required
  • Ability to speak, understand, and write fluently in English
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Any combination of experience and training providing required skills, knowledge and abilities

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu while utilizing standardized recipes
  • Ensure that food prepared is of proper quantity and in accordance with established time schedules
  • Utilize correct portion control utensils during preparation and food service to ensure proper quantities
  • Check and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation and service and record those temperatures following policy
  • Ensure an adequate supply of food and supplies are available at all times and report inadequate stock levels to the supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Collaborate with dietary and nursing staff to meet patient nutritional needs
