Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
  • ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
  • physical capability to perform lifting, bending, and other repetitive tasks
  • dependable and flexible
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service shifts
  • prepare and assist in food preparation according to menus and recipes
  • ensure proper storage and sanitary handling of all food items
  • serve food during scheduled meal times following department policies
  • use kitchen utensils and equipment appropriately for food preparation and serving
  • maintain clean work areas including cleaning refrigerators, cooking and serving equipment
  • train other food service workers
  • uphold facility uniform policy
  • manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • ensure kitchen readiness through sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • verify proper food portions and utensils for service
  • promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, standing for extended periods
  • perform other related duties as assigned
