Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years cooking experience or five years preparation and culinary arts experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills or willingness to learn on the job
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes accurately
  • Capability to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to maintain sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to perform food preparation tasks
  • Effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Assist the chef and senior cook in the preparation of all food
  • Must be able to read, understand, and prepare any recipe without direction or confusion
  • Prepare all meats, fish, soups, sauces, and vegetables using acceptable methods ensuring nutritional value and presentation
  • Prepare foods ordered for hospital staff and guest events including assembly on display trays with garnish
  • Participate in food preparation for cafeteria menu items including planning for display, garnish, and delivery
  • Serve on the patient tray line or cafeteria grill as needed
  • Use quick chill and re-therm equipment proficiently
  • Maintain sanitation of all food preparation work surfaces on a clean-as-you-go basis
  • Perform other related tasks as directed by the chef
