Job Requirements
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must successfully pass a drug screening test
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to work various shifts including early morning and evening hours
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to handle exposure to heat, steam, and cold in kitchen environment
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety preferred
- Prior related experience working in a senior living community preferred
- Basic understanding of sanitation and workplace safety
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and stressful environment
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Strong teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene
- Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods
Job Duties
- Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the head chef, senior chef, or other staff
- Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning
- Prepares meat by trimming, cutting, and portioning
- Prepares simple dishes such as breads or salads
- Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces
- Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards
- Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
