Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 17 years
  • preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years experience in quantity food preparation
  • understanding of food production techniques and equipment

  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation

Job Duties

  • checks and stores stock items for the next day
  • labels and dates all items
  • utilizes leftovers appropriately
  • checks freezer before requisitioning items
  • makes decisions and takes responsibility for actions
  • orients new staff to work areas
  • attends continuing education seminars
  • helps develop training programs
  • keeps work area clean and sanitary
  • maintains rags in sanitizing solutions
  • completes equipment cleaning checklists
  • follows Health Department and HACCP guidelines
  • operates equipment safely
  • keeps food at appropriate temperatures
  • reports safety hazards
  • expedites orders and coordinates timing of food
  • uses and understands standardized recipes
  • produces correct food amounts
  • meets time schedules
  • batch cooks when appropriate
  • coordinates equipment usage
  • completes and submits production sheets
  • anticipates daily needs
  • checks item availability
  • reports shortages timely
  • monitors serving lines
  • offers substitutes if needed
  • checks out with Chef or manager
  • produces quality finished products
  • reads and produces food by ticket system
