Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • state issued food serve certification
  • minimum one-year related experience
  • knowledge of food serving, cleanliness and sanitation requirements
  • ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move food service and preparation equipment
  • ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull over 75 percent of shift

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items using Calder Woods standardized recipes and ensure that all food meets quality and service standards
  • prepare meals based on menu requirements
  • review menus and select appropriate ingredients and supplies for meal preparation
  • obtain necessary supplies from storage to ensure timely meal production
  • cook breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner meals that are nourishing and appetizing
  • monitor quality of food items for taste, smell, appearance, and temperature
  • prepare meals efficiently and cost-effectively while utilizing food and equipment safely
  • obtain supervisor approval for all food substitutions
  • maintain meal count and documentation records according to standards
  • monitor production levels to avoid overproduction and recommend use of leftovers
  • maintain food inventories and complete requisition forms
