Job Requirements
- One year experience as a cook in a large restaurant, hotel, or complex healthcare facility
- Ability to prepare and coordinate food orders according to standardized recipes
- Demonstrated knowledge of food and food products
- Ability to plate and garnish cooked items with appropriate garnishes
- Proven skills in quality food production including tray-line, cafeteria, grill and catering
- Ability to maintain kitchen cleanliness and organize workstation
- Knowledge of health department codes and sanitation policies
- Superb customer service skills
- Ability to work varied hours and locations
- Ability to bend, squat, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Employment subject to criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Job Qualifications
- One year experience as a cook in a large restaurant, hotel, or healthcare facility
- Knowledge of food and food products
- Skill in quality food production including tray-line, cafeteria, grill or catering
- Ability to perform food plating and garnishing
- Knowledge of health department codes and sanitation policies
- Excellent customer service skills
- Food Handler's Card or Certification preferred
- Ability to scratch cook with meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and sauces preferred
- Proficient knife skills and ability to work as part of a team preferred
Job Duties
- Perform hot and cold food production according to established recipes and quality standards
- Prepare menu items for cafeteria, tray-line, and special functions
- Ensure food items meet appearance, taste, temperature, and portion control standards
- Conduct meat fabrication, fish cutting, and sauce preparation
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation including equipment cleaning and sanitization
- Assist in kitchen closing procedures and adhere to closing checklists
- Participate in scheduled employee meetings and provide improvement suggestions
