Job Requirements

Must be able to receive and maintain criminal records clearance
at least one year of food preparation or cooking experience in a restaurant or group setting
possession of California Food Handler's Certification
knowledge of food safety procedures
knowledge of PC computer systems and Microsoft Office or ability to learn
good verbal communication skills
ability to work with minimal supervision and multitask
ability to maintain professional conduct and appearance
ability to meet deadlines
commitment to serving homeless individuals

Job Qualifications

At least one year of food preparation or cooking experience in a restaurant or group setting
commitment to serving homeless individuals
prior experience working with people experiencing homelessness is highly preferred
knowledge of food safety procedures and possession of California Food Handler's Certification
knowledge of PC computer systems and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel or ability to learn
good verbal communication skills
excellent interpersonal skills with a can-do and flexible attitude
ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines
ability to maintain professional conduct, attitude, and appearance at all times

Job Duties

Cook daily meals
ensure proper safety and sanitation in food preparation and serving
wash dishes, clean kitchen and food storage areas, and complete other cleaning tasks as needed
assist with menu prepping
assist with inventory including ordering, receiving, and organization as well as program statistics collection and reporting
coordinate with shelter manager and resident advocates to assess program needs and provide support
perform all tasks necessary for hosting and serving the Community Meal including setup, breakdown, directing volunteers, serving food, light janitorial duties, and security
attend and participate in all meetings and trainings as assigned
complete and submit timesheets timely and accurately
work within the framework of Insight Housing's Code of Conduct
perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
