Job Requirements
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment

- intermediate knowledge of food service routines, food safety and handling
- physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods

- must uphold highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
- compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- availability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- current Deschutes County Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Food Handler Certification required
- ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
- two years previous culinary experience or Associate's degree in related culinary field or culinary certificate with one year experience
- excellent organizational skills
- strong written and oral communication
- customer service skills especially in fast-paced environments
- knowledge of food safety and handling
- ability to multitask efficiently
- basic to intermediate computer skills including email and MS Office
Job Duties
- Prepares food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment
- follows recipe cards, production, portion, and presentation standards
- prepares a wide variety of daily food items for patient room service and café using standard recipes and various cooking techniques
- completes mis en place and set-up station for meal services
- maintains clean and organized work areas including equipment cleaning and sanitation
- operates and cleans kitchen equipment efficiently to ensure high-quality food production
- dates and rotates food containers following health department food code guidelines
- monitors inventory and manages food supplies to reduce costs and avoid waste
- returns unused food to storage areas properly covered and dated
- assists in food cost control and waste reduction efforts
- implements quality control steps and responds to customer feedback
- maintains strong relationships with food service caregivers to meet service needs
- utilizes computer applications and MS Office for communication and reporting
- supports other food service areas including food delivery to patients as needed
- complies with health, safety, and organizational integrity standards
- promotes continuous improvement and adaptation of Lean principles
- delivers timely, efficient, and accurate customer and patient service
- performs additional duties as assigned with professionalism and confidentiality
