Job Requirements

  • must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
  • must be able to bend, squat, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Job Qualifications

  • one year experience as a cook in a large restaurant, hotel, or complex healthcare facility
  • knowledge of food and food products
  • skill in quality food production including tray-line, cafeteria, grill, and/or catering
  • ability to perform food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing
  • knowledge of health department codes and sanitation policies
  • superb customer service skills
  • food handler's card or certification preferred
  • ability to efficiently scratch cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and sauces preferred
  • proficiency in all stations, knife skills, ability to take directions and work as part of a team preferred

Job Duties

  • perform a variety of duties related to hot and cold food production and service to customers
  • prepare menu items in advance and to order for cafeteria, tray-line, and special functions according to standardized recipes
  • prepare food items with attention to appearance, taste, temperature, and portion control
  • perform meat fabrication, fish cutting, and sauce making
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work station including cooking equipment and refrigerators
  • follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • close the kitchen properly following the closing checklist and assist others in closing
