Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
- Proficient in the operation of kitchen machinery and basic cooking utensils
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current ServSafe certification
- Must comply with all health department regulations and company policies
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Willingness to adhere to sanitation and safety standards
- Previous experience in food preparation is preferred

- Knowledge of ServSafe standards and food safety regulations
- Experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial or institutional setting preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares food for residents and visitors for each meal period throughout the day
- Ensures all food is in compliance with state and federal health regulations
- Follows all standardized recipes set by the Chef for the production of all breakfast and lunch meals
- Maintains high standards of quality food production and portion control in food preparation and serving
- Obtains and maintains a current ServSafe certification
- Adheres to all sanitation and safe food handling standards according to ServSafe and health department regulations
- Thaws, prepares, and stores all food items in accordance with health and safety standards
- Follows menus provided by the Chef and makes changes only with consent of Sous Chef or Chef, logging all changes
- Prepares meals at the proper time and in sufficient quantity to meet service requirements
- Checks temperatures of all food prior to meal time to ensure compliance
- Maintains proper sanitation and safety in food preparation areas
- Utilizes leftover foods as directed by the Chef
- Cleans and sanitizes all food preparation and production areas
- Cleans cooking areas and kitchen equipment at beginning and end of each meal period
- Washes and cleans utensils and equipment used for each meal period
- Conducts daily checks of refrigerators and freezers for proper storage and cleanliness
- Reports any maintenance or sanitation concerns promptly to management
- Utilizes help of Utility Aid as appropriate
