Job Requirements

  • An OR food handlers card or equivalent
  • food protection manager certification within 6 months of hire
  • two years experience as a cook in a commercial food service facility or possession of a certificate of completion in culinary arts and/or Foods and Hospitality Service from a certified community college or technical school
  • food handlers card or ServSafe certificate obtained by hire date
  • able to stand for long periods
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • comfortable working in environments with exposure to loud noise, heat, grease, and cold
  • able to follow sanitation and food safety guidelines per health department and OHSU policies

Job Qualifications

  • high school or culinary diplomas preferred
  • 2 years industry related experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare existing and new recipes for patients and guests
  • production and service of menu items including special requests and individualized services
  • conveyance of supplies and storage of foods following OHSU controls
  • temperature monitoring and recording
  • ensuring food and work safety compliance
  • cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas
  • covering co-workers for breaks and absences
  • assisting in special preparation, banquets, and special assignments
