Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher
- Minimum two years of experience in B2B sales or equivalent education and training
- Proven account management and sales presentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to build and maintain business relationships
- Team-oriented with collaborative work style
- Motivated and strategic sales approach
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends and travel as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Experience with CRM systems
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally out-of-town
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher
- Two years of related experience in B2B sales or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Professional experience in hospitality sales, event planning, or similar industry experience is preferred
- Proven skills in account management and direct sales
- Strong commitment to quality and accuracy
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to network and maintain effective client relationships
- Strong team orientation
- Motivated to engage in the sales process and manage large high-profile accounts
- Understanding of associations and non-profit organizations is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite
- Experience with contact management or sales account management systems
Job Duties
- Identify, prospect, and solicit accounts within multiple market sectors to qualify them for convention and event business in Madison
- Cultivate relationships with local community members affiliated with targeted accounts and encourage consideration of Madison for future tradeshows, meetings, conventions, and/or events
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of primary meeting, event and lodging facilities within the area
- Maintain familiarity with competitive markets, facilities and other issues impacting the organization’s ability to sell the Madison area and its facilities
- Create and deliver sales proposals, bid presentations and client tours showcasing relevant facilities, services and area benefits
- Maintain Customer Relations Management (CRM) database with current and potential convention, sports and tradeshow client information
- Develop and maintain a visible profile at assigned industry events and trade shows
- Develop feasible short and long-term plans and strategies for achieving department goals and objectives
