Job Requirements

  • Education at least post high school level
  • two to four years related experience
  • knowledge of banquet and catering food and beverage services
  • proficient with computer equipment
  • ability to compile facts and figures according to procedure
  • supervisory skills
  • excellent communication skills required
  • excellent hearing and vision
  • ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to bend/kneel occasionally
  • mobility to service clients on short notice
  • ability to stand continuously for one to four hours
  • ability to climb stairs frequently
  • able to work in temperatures ranging from extreme summer heat to winter cold

Job Qualifications

  • More than two years of post high school education
  • two to four years of related employment experience
  • working knowledge of banquet/catering food and beverage services, policies, or operations

  • strong communication skills for interaction with management and guests

  • excellent verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Responsible for management and planning of meetings/conventions and related activities
  • attend Banquet Event Order (BEO) and staff meetings and act as team leader for hotel department staff in event delivery
  • achieve minimum of 90% productivity goals and 100% activity goals
  • coordinate all group business developed by sales manager and follow up on contracted business within 5 working days
  • maintain accurate, organized and up-to-date file management
  • develop customer profiles and maintain effective trace system
  • build strong client relationships through professional and courteous communication
  • follow up on client needs and inquiries promptly
  • focus on revenue-generating activities and maximize selling time
  • detail and up-sell event programs including verification of space, audio-visual, menus, and decorations
  • manage function details to ensure program requirements are met and handle customer complaints
  • oversee billing for hotel groups including deposits and credit card authorizations
  • improve hotel convention services through participation in sales tools development, competition analysis, and customer needs satisfaction
  • monitor and control event budgets to maximize revenues and minimize expenses
  • attend and lead pre-conference meetings and coordinate event logistics
  • close out groups including sales system pickup and commission processing
