Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum one year hospitality industry experience
- experience in catering sales
- proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
- strong understanding of sales techniques and revenue management
- knowledge of hotel operations and market
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- availability to work regular hours and adhere to attendance policies
Job Qualifications
- prior experience in hospitality with catering sales is essential
- minimum of one year in the hospitality industry required
- experience at a similar size and quality hotel
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
- knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training and motivation of peers
- understanding of hotel features, benefits, and market competition
- ability to execute appropriate action plans
- knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security, personnel and labor relations, business planning, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
- ability to work effectively under deadlines
- strong verbal and written communication skills adaptable to different audiences
Job Duties
- understand monthly forecasting and the annual budget process
- raise meeting planner evaluation scores and implement methods to exceed satisfaction
- optimize room rental charges
- participate in re-booking of repeat business and maintain long-term client relationships
- actively participate in industry related organizations such as NACE and MPI
- demonstrate strong sales techniques including closing and negotiating skills
- conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations
- provide creative event setups and innovative menu options in collaboration with the chef
- coordinate closely with banquet department on event operations and execution
- evaluate alternatives and decide on action plans quickly
- oversee detailed execution of banquet event orders
- manage audio/visual equipment as a profit center
- utilize computer systems including Delphi, Word, and Excel
- monitor group room blocks and pickups
- liaise with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction
- comply with attendance rules and maintain regular work availability
- perform other job-related duties as assigned
