Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • at least 1 year of experience in concierge or greeter service management in a large public facility
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to problem solve and work independently without direct supervision
  • flexibility to work varied schedules that meet organizational needs
  • physical ability to stand, walk, or run for approximately 95 percent of the workday
  • able to withstand weather exposure for approximately 95 percent of the workday
  • ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
  • able to tolerate minimal exposure to odors such as auto emissions and gasoline
  • must be capable of operating required equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • typically requires 1 year of experience in service management as a concierge or greeter in a large public facility

  • ability to work flexible, customer-oriented schedules
  • knowledge of age-specific patient care principles (as related to assisting patients)
  • capable of operating necessary equipment safely

Job Duties

  • Greets customers and assesses their immediate needs
  • successfully manages the first impression of the facility
  • offers assistance in any way necessary including assisting out of vehicles, locating wheelchairs, providing directions, escorting to destinations
  • passes customers to volunteers for escorts when available
  • utilizes admitting or other departments to verify destination and remains with patients if alone or in wheelchairs
  • assists in maintaining smooth traffic flow at facility entrances
  • assists in arranging parking needs such as valet service, tour buses, and short-term visitors
  • assists customers with transportation needs including taxi vouchers, bus passes, van transport, or other special needs
  • assures working area is clean, safe, and free from obstacles
  • reports any security or safety issues to Public Safety Services immediately
  • works with hospital support staff including Public Safety, Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Patient Transport, and Grounds
  • demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary for age-appropriate care and understanding of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan
