Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Six months of work experience in healthcare with high volume direct patient contact or one year of work experience with high volume direct public contact
- Experience with EPIC or other patient information software
- Understanding of process improvement methods
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- Cultural competency
- Ability to maintain calmness in conflict situations
- Proficiency in computer software including MS Office

Job Duties
- Greet patients, visitors and employees at points of entry into OHSU hospitals and clinics in a professional and courteous manner
- Provide information about OHSU services and programs, including explanations of processes to obtain services and procedural information
- Answer patient information telephone lines, respond to requests for information and route calls appropriately
- Utilize computer systems to access patient information and release it according to HIPAA guidelines
- Provide information about local hotel arrangements, transportation, dining, and leisure activities
- Support various departments such as Admitting, Central Check In, Visitors and Volunteers with specific processes and verify patient information
- Assist mortuary representatives with directions and review completed forms for accuracy
- Provide wheelchairs and escalate transportation needs
- May provide notary services if licensed
- Maintain familiarity with Public Safety policies and act as person in charge during emergencies
- Explain and apply Patient Visitation Policy and escalate exceptions
- Observe guest and staff behavior and escalate concerning issues
- Maintain a calm demeanor and respond to disruptions professionally
- Circulate lobby or waiting areas to identify needs and maintain cleanliness
- Keep work area clean and stocked with necessary supplies
- Participate in trainings related to the position and OHSU Core Competencies
- Perform other duties as assigned
