Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 1 year of experience as a concierge or greeter in a large public setting
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to work independently and problem solve
  • flexible availability to meet visitor needs
  • physical ability to stand, walk or run for prolonged periods
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • tolerance to weather exposure and occasional odors from auto emissions
  • ability to operate necessary equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • minimum 1 year experience in service management as concierge or greeter in large public facility
  • excellent communication skills

  • ability to problem solve independently
  • ability to work flexible schedule
  • knowledge of age-specific care principles
  • ability to assess and interpret patient needs based on age

Job Duties

  • Greets customers and assesses their immediate needs
  • successfully manages the first impression of the facility
  • offers assistance including helping out of vehicle, locating wheelchair, providing directions, escorting to destination
  • passes customer to volunteers for escorts when possible
  • utilizes admitting or other departments to verify destination and remains with the patient if they are alone or in a wheelchair
  • assists in maintaining smooth traffic flow at facility entrances
  • arranges parking needs such as valet service, tour buses, short-term visitors
  • assists customers with transportation needs such as taxi vouchers, bus passes, van transport
  • assures working area is clean, safe and free from obstacles
  • reports security and safety issues to Public Safety Services department immediately
  • works with hospital support staff including Public Safety, Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Patient Transport and Grounds
  • demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to patients served
