Job Requirements

  • Must be able to see computer screens, data reports, and other documents
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, associates, and customers
  • Requires walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
  • Must have free movement of hands for typing and lifting
  • Must be able to lift 20 plus pounds infrequently
  • The concierge will be in an office setting
  • May be required to assist guests outside of the hotel but not off hotel property
  • Requires knowledge of hotel business policies, procedures, and services
  • Must communicate positively with guests and co-workers
  • Must work with various computer software including Microsoft Excel, Word, hotel systems, and concierge software
  • Ability to handle customers requiring tact, patience, and diplomacy
  • Must know the Metro-Detroit area and local attractions
  • Must professionally represent the hotel

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • One year of experience in the hospitality industry or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Metro-Detroit area, local attractions, dining, and entertainment options
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, hotel property management systems, and concierge software
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively and professionally with guests and co-workers
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse customers requiring tact and diplomacy
  • Familiarity with hotel business policies, procedures, and services

Job Duties

  • Provide outstanding guest services by greeting guests promptly and warmly as they arrive
  • Retain comprehensive knowledge of local businesses, clubs, and attractions
  • Make restaurant reservations, recommend local social events, arrange travel and transportation
  • Handle all guest requests and follow up on reservations such as transportation, shows, events, spa visits, golf tee times, and special occasion arrangements
  • Act as the hotel lobby ambassador and expert resource on local attractions and events
  • Assist in supporting department staff and management to ensure an exceptional guest experience
  • Perform administrative duties including coordinating gift bag drop-offs, managing inbound mail and packages, and updating VIP reports
