Job Requirements

  • Must complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance
  • Must complete electronic reference check with three professional references
  • Must provide required licenses or certificates
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and handle emergency situations
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection if required
  • Commitment to working in a tobacco-free environment

Job Duties

  • Courteously greets all visitors and employees upon arrival to the Long Island State Veterans Home
  • Educates visitors and employees on testing and protocols in accordance with DOH guidelines
  • Assists all visitors with screening upon entry into the facility and facilitates mandatory testing as required by the NYS DOH
  • Assists all employees with electronic screening upon entry and collaborates with IT staff for machine maintenance
  • Collaborates with facility testing team to facilitate and administer employee COVID-19 testing and screening
  • Stocks and monitors supply level of PPE and testing supplies, notifying the Nursing Operations Coordinator when levels are low
  • Provides visitors and employees with proper PPE based on COVID status of the unit or resident being visited
  • Maintains accurate counts of visitors and their destinations and enters required information in the visitation database
  • Maintains employee vaccine sign-up sheets and assists with vaccine facilitation
  • Responds to visitor and employee inquiries courteously and uses appropriate de-escalation techniques when needed
  • Politely denies access to individuals who fail screening requirements
  • Escalates potential problems or unusual questions to supervisors in a timely manner
  • Answers telephones promptly and provides high-level assistance
  • Organizes supplies and maintains cleanliness of health information and screening areas
  • Assists with training new staff on protocols and programs
  • Facilitates wayfinding and escorts residents and visitors as needed
