Job Requirements

  • minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • progressive experience in the hospitality industry
  • proven leadership capability managing multiple hotel properties
  • ability to work varied and extended hours
  • physical capability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently
  • valid driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • at least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years related experience or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years related experience
  • experience managing multiple properties
  • long hours sometimes required
  • light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
  • valid driver’s license for applicable state
  • maintain warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • effective verbal and written communication skills with all employees and guests
  • ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns
  • multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • approach encounters with attentiveness, friendliness, courtesy, and service orientation
  • attend all required meetings and trainings
  • participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • maintain regular attendance per Highgate standards
  • uphold high personal appearance and grooming standards including wearing nametags

Job Duties

  • conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
  • engage actively in hotel sales efforts by calling on top accounts, meeting clients, hosting events, and daily contact with on-site contacts
  • conduct daily tours of operating departments and make adjustments via department heads
  • lead weekly staff meetings and training sessions based on Highgate standards
  • meet financial review deadlines and corporate programs in a timely manner
  • hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors
  • ensure all department heads maintain budgeted productivity and accounting procedures
  • develop managers for advancement through training programs
  • participate in required M.O.D. coverage
  • monitor and develop management trainees
  • ensure compliance with hotel policies through training
  • assist in the budget process
  • oversee service standards training in all departments
  • foster a positive guest-focused team environment through employee development
  • conduct regular room inspections with housekeeping and engineering management
  • ensure daily invoice processing via A/P
  • comply with monthly financial document submissions
  • oversee property cleanliness and maintenance through inspections and preventive maintenance
  • maintain attentive, friendly, and courteous interaction with guests and employees
  • forecast the hotel’s financial position monthly and generate accurate reforecasts
  • perform management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • interview final candidates for management positions
  • conduct performance appraisals for Executive Committee members and ensure manager compliance
  • motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel per SOPs
  • perform additional duties as requested by senior leadership
  • ensure fair and equitable employee treatment
  • meet clients on property to aid sales
  • be present in public areas during peak times for guest greeting and assistance
  • ensure hotel safe security and monthly audits
  • lead monthly credit meetings and enforce credit policies
  • complete corporate training and certify others as required
  • ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
